A Few Keys to Combat
the Fear Cycle

By Lauren Hasson

Realizing our emotions can be fluid in this time is one of our first steps into emotional understanding and health.  How we process them, is the key.

Often when we are having stressful, anxious, or fearful emotions, the enemy attempts to put us into a “Fear/Shame Cycle”.  He brings surprise attacks that may be sudden, or builds a case against God that can become sustained.  We can move into the trap of trying to stay out of these debilitating emotions through our arsenal of “religious tools”:  proclaiming, declaring, quoting scriptures, and prayers that sound more like begging than believing.

“This seems contradictory?  Why aren’t they working?” you ask yourself.  Thus the second half of the Fear/Shame Cycle comes into play with the utter defeat of feeling guilty that all of our faith proclamations don’t seem to put a dent in combatting our fear.  This is where the enemy comes in for the kill, “If you were more spiritual you wouldn’t be fearful.  If you were stronger, you wouldn’t struggle with doubt.  You WILL ALWAYS LACK FAITH, because you aren’t good enough to walk it out like all your friends.”

You can hear his voice in this horrific shame cycle, which ends up in our confession of our lack of faith and white-knuckling it with new religious tools, hoping this time around they will work.

Ugggghhhhhhhhh!   HELP!

As I shared the story in this video, I didn’t know that my religious tools had become just that ineffective, because I was trying to work out these issues on my own.  I was performing rituals without relationship in the “now” of my struggle.  As my friend shared with compassion on my situation, I was able to see the very real and tangible fear my situation was allowing.  In the natural realm, I had traumatic experiences that made me fearful.  Jesus needed to show up in the middle of my fear to partner my heart with His love and compassion for me.

Wow what a difference!

I was no longer attempting faith.  His love encamped around me, anchored me in Him.  His arms of love in the midst of the trial silenced the enemy’s accusations, removed the shame, and brought me into great peace.

Let’s remember a few keys to breaking the teeth of fear:

Key One:  Acknowledge Your Fear

·      “I am feeling fearful because of (name it).”
·      “I am out of control and don’t know how to fix it.”
·      “I also feel (identify if there are any partnering issues with the fear).”

“You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way.
Your authority is my strength and my peace.
The comfort of your love takes away my fear.”
Psalm 23: 4

Key Two:  Stop and Let Him In

·      Without trying to fix it yourself, invite Him into your fear.
·      See Him sitting next to you, arm around you, and holding you.
·      As you receive His love, share your emotions completely with Him.
·      Do not hold back, give it all to Him, until you feel a release

“Fear will never conquer me, for you already have!”
Psalm 23:4  (TPT)

Key Three:  Let Him Anchor You

·      Ask Him who he is for you right now.
·      How does He want to take care of you?
·      Ask Him to show you where He’s been faithful to you in you past.
·      Read your prophetic words out loud to Him and to others.
·      Stay with Him until all fear is gone.
·      Receive His vision for your future.

“Pay attention and come closer to me,
and hear, that your total being may flourish.”
Isaiah 55:3

Remember, during this acute time, we are not denying that there is fear in the natural realm; however,  In His Kingdom realm He has all the answers.  We are asking Him to bring us up high with Him.  Run to Him for deep comfort, compassion, rest, and reassurance.  Allowing Him to care for you brings His love for you in the middle of your cycle of fear and shame.  It becomes a part of your new cycle of receiving love from him.  No shame in “I’m afraid right now?  Why?”  He will show you the answers, the roots of issues, and reveal His thoughts to your mind and your heart so that you release anxiety and receive His powerful love.

At the end of this video, step into the realm of syncing your heart and your mind in His love.

These simple steps will help you identify fear, release it, and move into the security of being protected and provided for by our loving Father.

Standing with you to move into the goodness of God that will be released in your life during this time.

Scripture References from Video

Isaiah 55:  Called to Greatness after Repentance

“Listen! Are you thirsty for more?

Come to the refreshingwaters and drink.

Even if you have no money,

    come, buy, and eat.

Pay attention and come closer to me,

and hear, that your total being may flourish.

I will enter into an everlasting covenant with you,

and I will show you the same faithful love

    that I showed David.

See! I made him a witness to the nations,

    an example ofleadership,

as prince and commander of peoples.”

Look! You will summon nations you’ve never heard of.

Nations who have never heard of you

will come running to follow you

because Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel,

    has glorified you!

Seek the Lord Yahweh when he makes himself approachable;

call upon him when you sensehe is near.

The wicked need to abandon their ways,

and sinful ones need to banish every evil thought.

    Let them return to Yahweh,

and they will experience his compassionate mercy.

Yes, let them return to God,

for he will lavish forgiveness upon them.

“For my thoughts about mercyare not like your thoughts,

and my ways are different from yours.

As high as the heavens are above the earth,

so my ways and my thoughts are higher than yours.

10 “As the snow and rain that fall from heaven

do not return until they have accomplished their purpose,

soaking the earth and causing it to sprout with new life,

providing seed to sow and bread to eat.

11 So also will be the word that I speak;

it does not return to me unfulfilled.

    My word performs my purpose

and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish.”

12 For you will leave your exilewith joy

and be led home wrappedin peace.
